Joseph Peter Schardt was born on March 8, 1899, to Peter G Schardt and Katherine Lauterbach.
In the 1910 census, he was living with his family in Milwaukee. In the 1920 census, he was living with his family in Russell, Wisconsin. In 1924, he married Katherine (Catherine) Behrens (born January 9, 1893). In the 1930 census, they were living in Milwaukee. In 1940, he and Katherine had a 6-year-old daughter named Irene K Schardt and were living in Delafield, Wisconsin. He was working as an electric appliance salesman, making $2340 a year and had two years of college.
On September 29, 1942, he enlisted in the US Army. He had one year of college and was working as a semiskilled machine shop workman. He was 5’6″ and weighed 180 pounds.
Katherine died at age 86 in July 1979. Joseph died at age 88 on January 28, 1988 in Milwaukee.
